Company Support Scheme: new help for companies
Our 2008 to 2013 Development Plan has two main goals:
- to start new BB companies, and
- to support and develop existing BB companies.
The second one of these goals, we call the Company Support Scheme.
Work is underway to recruit and train a network of BB Company Support Officers (at least one per battalion, and several in the larger ones) who will, first and foremost, listen to volunteers in companies. Their remit will be to visit companies to find out what are the toughest challenges that we face, and then to provide immediate, practical support and advice.
These Support Officers, drawn from our membership around the UK will be trained and resourced to help with funding, recruitment (leaders and young people), programme, child protection and training. They will themselves, be supported by mentor/supervisors and will initially target companies in danger of closure.
The vision for this scheme is that by bringing information and support closer to companies, we can enable them to thrive, and thereby deliver the best in Christian youth work to children and young people.
How can you get involved?
Simple.
- Talk to your battalion or district colleagues about it.
- Decide on someone (a good organiser) who can work with your Regional Headquarters to co-ordinate the scheme.
- Contact your Regional Headquarters. The names and details are at the end of the article.
- Headquarters staff will help you to recruit and train the right people to become CSOs. This bit is crucial to the scheme being a success in your area.
- You are up and running!
As your scheme gets going there are ways in which Regional Headquarters staff can help you to review progress and overcome any initial teething problems, but it is your scheme.
