Child Protection / CRB Checks in The Boys' Brigade
In view of current legislation it is essential that if you are made aware of any disclosure, allegation or serious complaint you refer the matter to Karen Jay at Felden Lodge even if you think a referral may already have been made. Please do not make any investigation, but refer the matter on.
The Boys' Brigade is a Christian Youth Organisation committed to providing a safe environment in which boys and young people can develop socially and emotionally towards mature adulthood.
All leaders working in The Boys' Brigade are required to complete a Criminal Record Check. The process for carrying out this check is different in each of the regions, as below:
England & Wales
The Criminal Records Bureau processes all checks in England & Wales. A Disclosure Application form can be completed through The Boys' Brigade or through the sponsoring Churches arrangements for CRB checking. The Churches Agency for Safeguarding who will carryout most checks for Churches will notify The Boys' Brigade.

Scotland
Disclosure Scotland processes all disclosure checks in Scotland. In The Boys' Brigade most Leaders working in a Company will carryout a Disclosure Check through their sponsoring Church, whilst Leaders working in a Battalion role may complete their DIsclosure Check through The Boys' Brigade. The Boys' Brigade is informed about all checks relating to working in The Boys' Brigade by the Church.

POCVA (The Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults ) Checks are carried out in Northern Ireland by the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety.
